Extending what a particle counter can measure

Every particle counter has a concentration range it can resolve and a pressure it can tolerate. Two situations in cleanroom testing fall outside those limits: aerosols concentrated enough to saturate the counter, and gas lines pressurised enough to damage it. The two accessories here solve one each.

ZR-G07 — dilution for high concentrations

Upstream of a filter during integrity testing, the aerosol concentration is deliberately high — typically far beyond what a particle counter can measure directly. The ZR-G07 dilutes the sample at a stable ratio of 1:70 to 1:100 at 0.3 μm, bringing the concentration into range. Because the ratio is known and stable, the original concentration is recovered by calculation.

It has an adaptive flow of 28.3 L/min, handles particles under 50 μm, and is built in stainless steel with 14 mm inlet and outlet. It works with PAO, DOP, Ondina and similar aerosols, and requires no power supply.

Dilution also protects the instrument: the counter is never exposed to the high concentrations that shorten its service life.

ZR-G08 — pressure reduction for gas lines

Measuring particle content inside a compressed air or gas line means the line pressure would reach the counter. The ZR-G08 connects between the line and the instrument and reduces the pressure to a safe value close to atmospheric.

It comes in two variants. The G08A accepts 0.54–0.70 MPa inlet pressure and delivers 100 L/min; the G08B accepts 0.64–0.70 MPa and delivers 28.3 L/min. Which you need is determined by the flow rate of the counter being connected.

Both are built in 304 stainless steel and are specified for clean, dry, non-toxic inert gas at 10–35 °C and 30–80% RH.

Frequently asked questions about accessories

When the aerosol concentration exceeds the particle counter's measurable range — typically when sampling upstream of a filter during integrity testing. The ZR-G07 dilutes at a stable 1:70 to 1:100 ratio at 0.3 μm so the concentration falls within range.

The dilution ratio is stable and known, which is the point: the original concentration is calculated back from it. An unstable ratio would make the measurement unusable.

Line pressure in a compressed air system is far above what a particle counter tolerates. The ZR-G08 sits between the line and the instrument and reduces the pressure to close to atmospheric, so the sample can be taken without damaging the counter.

Outlet flow. The G08A takes 0.54–0.70 MPa inlet and delivers 100 L/min; the G08B takes 0.64–0.70 MPa and delivers 28.3 L/min. Choose the one matching the flow rate of the particle counter you are connecting.
